McCain's VP pick supports creationism and does not believe in evolution.
From the Boston Globe:
On the other hand, Obama says the following in an interview with the York Daily Record (I added the emphasis):
This is something that I feel others need to know about so please pass on this info.
From the Boston Globe:
Earlier this year, she [Palin] told the newspaper that schools should not fear teaching creationism alongside evolution. "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information. . . . Healthy debate is so important and it's so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as a daughter of a science teacher."From the Anchorage Daily News:
The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms.Seriously? This is just insane. Europe is looking pretty good for a Postdoc if they actually win this election.
The Republican Party of Alaska platform says, in its section on education: "We support giving Creation Science equal representation with other theories of the origin of life. If evolution is taught, it should be presented as only a theory."
On the other hand, Obama says the following in an interview with the York Daily Record (I added the emphasis):
A candidate after my own heart!Q: York County was recently in the news for a lawsuit involving the teaching of intelligent design. What’s your attitude regarding the teaching of evolution in public schools?
A: “I’m a Christian, and I believe in parents being able to provide children with religious instruction without interference from the state.
But I also believe our schools are there to teach worldly knowledge and science. I believe in evolution, and I believe there’s a difference between science and faith. That doesn’t make faith any less important than science. It just means they’re two different things. And I think it’s a mistake to try to cloud the teaching of science with theories that frankly don’t hold up to scientific inquiry.“
This is something that I feel others need to know about so please pass on this info.
